A GIF (or segregated fund) is an investment fund created and issued exclusively by life insurance companies. GIFs are offered through contracts that offer maturity and death benefit guarantees.

You can purchase a Helios2 Contract as long as you have reached the age of majority. This age varies based on your province of residence.

Yes. The Helios2 contract – Opens a tooltip is eligible for all registered plans (RRSP, RRIF, TFSA, LIF and LIRA), and can also be non-registered. However some limitations apply and not all plan types or Guarantees are available for all Contract types.

You must comply with the specific conditions of these plans, particularly in terms of the age of eligibility and the amount of your contributions. Contact the Canada Revenue Agency for more details.
